HOUMUN
Houston International Model United Nations (HOUMUN) is a simulation of the United Nations where one presents realistic debates and follows protocol procedures just as it occurs in the major committees of the U.N. HOUMUN is formed by excellent faculty and students from the University of Houston-Downtown as well as other invited international students.
Our model is designed with the idea to create a social awareness between students about the world-wide problems happening each day and current topics have been selected carefully by each committee chair. HOUMUN is a recognized model by the United Nations Association and welcomes this newly, created organization, to educate the need for peace and be a role model for environmental issues.
In this model, we encourage participants to actively be involved, as it aids in their extracurricular activities and expand their knowledge in law, global environment, economics, security and politics to say the least. In the mode of debates, the precise management and research, and the power of persuasion throughout the presentation of position papers, speech and resolutions, participants can develop their comprehension by proposing new ideas to solve the current on-going problems.
